Consultec Moving Notice

Challenge
Toronto-based engineering firm Consultec Ltd wanted a distinct way to inform their clients and colleagues that their office was moving to a new location. The project order was small and swift—only 250 postcards were needed, but the moving date was just three weeks away.

Strategic Approach
Espresso, inspired by the belief that there are ‘no small jobs’ immediately got to work to create a unique and engaging postcard. Designed as a basic blueprint—something familiar to the engineer audience—the double-sided postcard presented the essential information about Consultec’s move. However, it was also a design that encouraged participation past the initial push of information: with a simple bit of cut, fold, and paste the card turned into a tiny moving truck, with the new address and company logo printed on the side.

Execution
To make the task of turning card into truck easier for participants, the design was letterpress printed. This created a scoring effect on the kraft card stock paper that provided a hard line for x-acto knives to follow. Simple directions were also printed on the front of the card, indicating which lines were to be cut and which to be folded.

Results
Instead of sending contacts a traditional postcard that would be quickly disposed of, Espresso created an engaging experience that resulted in the creation of an object more likely to stay on the desk of its audience.
