Here at Espresso, we’re all about collaboration. That’s why the whole team is excited to announce the creation of Freshly Ground.
Freshly Ground will be a new featured section of our blog where we – the Espresso interns – will share our quasi-daily experiences, tips, perspectives, and tasty links. You’ve all heard the longstanding tradition around interns being around purely to get coffee? Well, it’s nothing like that around these parts – but with respect to Classical Intern History, we still wanted to brew a little something up. (We are not kidding! We are literally jumping up and down – with Paige, the Associate Creative Director – in anticipation of getting some new ideas going!)
Our aim with Freshly Ground, then, is to give other students a real-life view from the inside of the marketing world, and figure out together how we can bring ever-smarter ideas to the front of the line. We have lots of thoughts storming around our heads for this segment, so hopefully you’ll find it insightful and helpful.
The key to this whole thing, however, will be the interaction between writers and readers. We would love it if you would ask us questions about our posts, about us, about the ongoing how-many-appetizers-are-appropriate-for-a-late-night-working session debate, about whatever. We will respond to these questions weekly. If you have any questions that you are weirded out by posting publicly, you can also email us at [ freshlyground at brandinfiltration.com ].
We have another intern incoming next week, but in the meantime, here’s a little rundown on the two of us who are here today!
I’ve just spent my first two weeks here at Espresso – and I still don’t have my Infiltrator picture! Settling in somewhere new tends to bring both challenges and excitement. So far, however, I’ve been veering entirely towards the latter as I get to know the Infiltrators and we all get adjusted to the new digs here in Liberty Village. I’m looking forward to regularly writing here as an intern and sharing my experiences as I begin to navigate the world of Brand Infiltration.
I’m currently studying at Ryerson University for a bachelor level degree in New Media, and am in the throes of my fourth year thesis. Personally, I lean towards the creative and interactive sides of marketing. I’ve been lucky enough to work on projects ranging from five foot multitouch screens to world wide interactive SMS stories through my previous experience and am looking forward to what my days at Espresso might bring.
I have been interning at Espresso for about six months now (thus I do have my Infiltrator picture – and business cards!) and absolutely love it here. I have worked on several different product launches, promotions, and get the opportunity to contribute to a lot of our mind meld (yes, this is facetious for brainstorming) sessions.

I am currently in my third year at the University of Toronto studying at Rotman Commerce to receive a B.Com in management and economics. In my spare time, I am involved in many different extracurriculars around campus, and spend countless hours online in my endless attempt to see everything on the internet ever.
So That’s Us!
We will both be at PodCamp TO this Saturday (and possibly Sunday), so if you see us around, come and say hi. We’d love to chat! Some of the sessions we were thinking of attending include: Artists and Creatives, Creating a Collaborative Work Environment, Social Media for Non-Profits, Government 2.0, and Fostering Creativity. We hope to see you there!
