UK shop Feel Unique would like you to know they really are, well, unique. The online beauty destination has announced that they are the world’s first company to advertise via winks – that is, they’re placing their logo on the eyelids of willing customers eager to make extra cash.

It’s simple! Just send an email expressing interest in temporarily transferring their brand onto your eyelid. Then you’ll be contacted by a Feel Unique rep who will explain their “pay per wink” compensation plan—which can apparently amount to up to £100.
Or, at least, that’s what the brief mention on their website says they’re doing, complete with a delicately-photoshopped image of the aforementioned logo on a closed lid. Plus there’s a quote! From Amy Rebours (no job title given): “It’s a genuine marketing first, which encourages people to spread a feel-good winking moment and earn some much-needed extra income in the process.”
Here’s what I think: Feel Unique has no such program in place. They don’t need to. Because simply talking about doing it is enough of an effort to still get precious, precious online buzz. Advertising critics love it, for the “is anything sacred!” slant, while those of us addicted to campaign stalking can sleep better knowing we’d never push something so frivolous.
But, in an effort to stay ahead of the curve, here’s some suggestions of “for buzz’s sake” campaigns we could see in 2009:
- Pet outfitter will train your dog to knit a sweater made from his own fur!
- YouTube announces that if you forward a clip to 23 friends you’ll instantly see a funny video of yourself on screen!
- Woman gets tattoo of an online gambling site’s logo on her forehead for $10,000. Oh, wait…
What’s the weirdest thing you’ve seen in 2008?

I am pretty sure I saw ads on “pregnant belly” before! That was years ago. Recently it was also listed on ebay – listing now removed of course.
