I had to share my little bit of news. I’ve just been accepted into U of T’s Faculty of Information PhD program! I’ll be starting my doctoral studies in emerging media next month. (No kidding, I enjoy moving quickly.)
The best part of this is that they offer a Flex Time program, which will allow you to study while also continuing to manage your professional life via a very cool program setup. While no different in requirements from the Full Time program, it’s a pretty fantastic opportunity for someone of my nature, who both wants to stay very involved in helping clients to engage in the emerging media space while also wanting to research to make us all better at what we do.

I hope during my studies to do collaborative work with the Knowledge Media Design Institute and stalk everything about the McLuhan Program in Culture and Technology. I think this will be about the coolest thing ever.
So yes – this is sickeningly self-referential and gushy, but I think it’s yet another step that will help us to do even more amazing work for our clients and hopefully move the lot of us forward in the always-intriguing, ever-changing media landscape!
And, yeah, it’s true. I’m a little bit crazy.

Wow! That’s amazing news Jacquelyn, congrats!
You are a little bit crazy. I’ve lived with a full-time PhD candidate before, I know the effects those programs have on people!
All the best.

A little bit crazy, indeed – that IS the general consensus! Hah.
Thanks for the well wishes – I will need ‘em!
